    Description

PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY!!!..Old original 4" x 2.5" promotional blotter for W.J. Christie (my grandfather) who ran for Pinellas County Commissioner (District #4) in the mid 1930s.
WILLIAM JOSEPH CHRISTIE served on the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners from 1935 to 1937 and was re-elected to three additional terms. However, he resigned during his third term to become the postmaster in Dunedin, and was replaced by the appointment of Frank G. Merrin. A 40-year resident of Pinellas County at the time of his death, Christie came in 1912 with his parents from Asheville, North Carolina. After attending Clearwater High School, he served in World War I in France. Returning to Pinellas County, Christie established an agency for real estate and insurance, and he became a city commissioner in Dunedin. Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners meetings show that Christie was active on several committees and that he voted consistently for a fiscally sound budget. Born in 1899, William Christie died in 1952. This blotter is in excellent condition with light marks on the backside.
