Brand new, never used, official team football, 100% exactly the same ball used by the team, only this is one of the few extras made that the team never used. So, it's straight from the manufacturer in exact same condition the teams receive them in.
These footballs were custom made for the Virginia Tech Hokies team according to the teams QB (and possibly coaches) preferences that season; each college team that uses Nike or Adidas gets to decide every specific detail; like the type of leather (brown, red, etc.), the type of material used for the laces and even the overall football shape type.. Here are some quotes by the manufacturers themselves, they say it better: "Hand crafted in the USA for durability and performance, tailored to meet your unique style" -- "fully customizable footballs built to the exact specifications chosen by your team including size, shape, leather, lace and logo designs."
I want to mention that brand new, or never used footballs look lighter colored and almost pale with a satin type look to the leather. This is because of some type of dusty grip powder that they put on these new balls, but if you don’t like that, you can wipe it down with a damp cloth and it goes away, then you will have that nice leather look you are probably accustom to seeing in the used or game day ready/prepped & tacked footballs. I'd also highly recommend the Wilson tac bar & brush prep kit (or any other brand prep kit). The leather will darken as you use it, and especially if you prep the ball accordingly. If you are a collector, then you'd probably just leave it as is. Couldn't ask for a better Virginia Tech Hokies football. It's brand new and absolutely perfect.
