    Description

    (This is a new auction, not a relisting!)
    This
    is a whopper: an extra-long 26½" Huret-made Schwinn speedometer cable, part number 08 485, just what you need for Huret or Huret-built Schwinn speedometer installations on choppers with extended forks, or 27" or 28" 10-speed lightweights, or any other larger bikes for which the longest standard-length (24½") drive cable won't reach.
    This is compatible with all Schwinn-branded speedometer components made by Huret (usually stamped "Made in France," not those made by Stewart-Warner), as well as their other brands (
    e.g.
    Flyte, Transval, Sachs Huret, etc.).
    This is an extremely clean used example of one of the longer drive cables made. It's ideal as a service replacement on a large-framed 10-speed or chopper, especially if the original cable provided isn't long enough to allow raising the handlebars. It's all in good working order and turning smoothly. Cosmetically, it is in exceptionally clean used condition and full working order, with shiny, securely-attached collars. The plastic-coated casing is fully flexible throughout its length (very flexible, in fact), it uncoils easily, and everything is all intact
    .
    CAUTION:
    Please be sure that your speedometer head is turning freely before installing this cable.
    Bicycle speedometer cables usually break because the speedometer head has seized up from years of storage.
    Replacing the cable will
    not
    free up the speedo head;
    it will simply break the new cable as soon as you start pedaling. To check that your speedometer head is able to turn properly, insert a small flat-blade screwdriver in the back of the speedo head (where the cable goes in), and be sure that the square-holed inner barrel of the speedometer head can turn freely before connecting this cable.
    NOTES:
    Please see notes above on its condition. The core has been cleaned and lubricated.
    This is not for Stewart-Warner speedometers.
    This is a Huret speedometer part.
