NEW VINTAGE SCHWINN APPROVED 00 780 RATTAN BICYCLE BIKE SHOPPING BASKET NOS NWT

Description

This is a nice New Old Stock example of a Schwinn Rattan Shopping Basket, Schwinn part number 00 780, first seen in about 1969 and sold into the early 1970s. This can be mounted on your vintage Schwinn using the Schwinn 01 420 front basket carrier.

Its carrying handles fold down for bike attachment or storage.
The basket is about 15" wide, 11" across and 9" deep. Inside depth from the underside of the raised handles to the bottom is about 13½" in the center. Construction is rattan weave throughout the main body of the basket, with plastic weave reinforcement in the base, top rim and carrying handles, and steel ring attachments linking the handles to the rim.

Later versions of this basket were all plastic throughout, but this is one of the original rattan examples in New Old Stock form, and the only rattan I have at this time. It's all in very good condition and ready for use or display. Enjoy!
