Barbary Ape 2018 50p Cupro Nickel Coloured Coin in a box
A popular belief holds that as long as the Gibraltar Barbary macaques exist in Gibraltar, the territory will remain British. Another story links Gibraltar to Africa by a subterranean passage which begins at Lower St. Michaels Cave in Gibraltar, passes under the Strait of Gibraltar, and the Gibraltar Barbary macaques entered The Rock from Morocco this way. We are therefore producing a series of four 50p coins each featuring a different Primate, the first of which will be the Barbary Macaque.
The design shows an adult Barbary Macaque Ape with an infant and a special coloured album has been produced to house the four coins and help you start the collection.
