antique Mid Illinois farm work token N M 5.
My research led to me an online coin identification site that this is a farm token they would give migrant and traveling workers in the field. In turn they would exchange the token for money or good at a store or location. It makes sense since you don’t want to get robbed out in the field holding a lot of money. Judging from the typograohy of the letters and numbers this token is from the 19th century . Purchased from an antique shop near litchfield illinois 2004.
