1970 Edward M. Ted Kennedy Signed Letter US Senate AFL-CIO COPE Labor Rights

Up for sale is a vintage letter signed by former US Senator Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy dated July, 1 1970 and addressed to Mr. Earl Davis of the AFL-CIO. The letter is in good condition showing light age-related wear. There is very mild discoloration around the edges and some folded corners along with the original horizontal folds. This letter is for Earl Davis, who was the Field Director for the COPE (Committee on Political Education) program by the AFL-CIO. The goal of COPE was to get more people, especially in labor unions, registered to vote. Senator Kennedy was asking for his help in recruiting more voters in his home state of Massachusetts for upcoming elections. This letter is two pages long and is signed by the longtime Senator from one of the most famous political families in US history. Great piece of history in need of a new home!
These pieces were taken from the personal collection of Earl Wayne Davis Jr, a prominent Civil Rights activist, photographer and publisher. This letter was for his father, Earl Davis Sr. who was the acting field director of the COPE program by the AFL-CIO and was a prominent activist within the AFL-CIO.
