    In 1908 the mint rolled out Bela Lyon Pratt's revolutionary incused Indian Head design. It was only fitting that the 236 proofs were struck with a radical sandblast finish. Most have been 'dipped' over the years to brighten their surfaces, but original coins have an unusual deep brown hue that connoisseurs cherish. The multi-faceted granular surfaces have a unique soft glow when tilted under a light. This example is nearly perfect with a needle-sharp strike and a sharp wire rim. Plus it has that wonderful original matte finish with an incredible deep brown hue. This is a breath-taking coin and one of the finest survivors of this fascinating issue!
